Gleneagle’s story began in 1957, when a young Killarney family opened their doors to guests and welcomed the first visitors into what was then a modest country house. What started as a small family-run hotel has grown into one of Ireland’s most recognised destination hotels, but the spirit of welcome that shaped those early days still defines it.

The original house, formerly known as Flesk House, was built in the 1830s. When Paddy and Sheila O’Donoghue purchased the property in 1956, they saw more than a building. They saw potential for a home filled with guests, music, conversation and community. Within a year, Gleneagle was registered as a licensed hotel, and its doors have never truly closed since.

Cliona Hagan, from Co. Tyrone, has become one of the most beloved names in Irish country music. After completing her studies at Queen’s University Belfast and University of Edinburgh, Cliona first came to national attention as a finalist on RTÉ’s The All Ireland Talent Show. Her passion for music, particularly Irish country mixed with American country influences, soon saw her rise rapidly within the industry.

In 2016, Cliona’s debut album Straight To You launched her career, featuring hit singles that quickly found their way onto Irish country radio playlists. Since then, she has toured extensively across Ireland and the UK, performing to sold-out audiences and earning awards such as “Female Vocalist of the Year” at the Irish Post Country Music Awards. Her vibrant stage presence and distinctive voice have continued to win her fans at home and abroad.

In 2019, Cliona reached a whole new audience when she took part in Dancing with the Stars, where she wowed viewers and made it all the way to the final. This experience showed a different side of Cliona’s talents and cemented her place as one of Ireland’s best-loved entertainers.

2022 saw Cliona marry fellow musician Simon Sheerin in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by family, friends, and the country music community. Their shared love of music continues to be a strong part of Cliona’s journey as she steps into new chapters both personally and professionally.

With a fresh energy, new music, and exciting projects like her Dolly Songbook Tour and Sizzle in the Sun holiday experiences, Cliona shows no signs of slowing down. Her love for performing, connection with her fans, and commitment to her craft continue to drive her as one of the leading voices in modern Irish country music.
